Unheard Voices

A Monologue Play

by the All Roses Company

Unheard Voices is a series of six monologue plays about women whose stories have not been told. Based on historical records, classical literature and folk tales, each woman participated in shaping major world events, their contributions lost to time until now.

The characters include Eve from The Book of Genesis, the face that launched at thousand ships Helen of Troy, a medieval woman of legend Pope Joan, Baroque painter Artemisia Gentileschi, entrepreneur Betsy Ross and Sally Hemings, slave to Thomas Jefferson who bore him six children.

Every monologue is about 20 minutes in length. They can be produced together as a single evening of theatre, two hours plus intermission. The monologues can also be presented in smaller groups of two, three or four, or as individual performances. The plays are family friendly and ideal for high-schools, colleges and community organizations. They adapt well to Fringe Festival productions and Women’s History Month events.
